Hey ladies!
Good day to you and your tresses!
I am having an issue, sigh. Got man troubles and everything else troubles too! If its not one thing... its another. So I have found that when my life is hectic SO IS MY HAIR.
I have cut my hair three times in the past year. When I went to the salon my stylist found that my ends were split and dry. So we did an inch or more with every cut and this last cut really shows. When my hair is in its natural state, the shrinkage is significant. I have found that is because I have been neglecting myself off and on.
I have decided to get rid of all the things that totally stress me out and make steps to recover myself and my tresses.
Here is the list I made:
1. Maintain use of organic hair products
I love my homemade flax seed gel and my Shea Butter and sunflower oil! I will never give those things up bc the benefits are so much more important to me than convenience and price. We all know the benefits of organic products on natural hair or any other type of hair for that matter, and if you need a refresher course.......
BAM!<<<<<
2. Practice styling hair in protective styles<<<
My ends are suffering more than anything and I want to retain length so I def need to protect them so they won't become damaged and break. We don't want that. NOOOO!
3. Cover head every night with satin bonnet or scarf
Protects your ends and preserves your style. I like the idea but its seems that I forget from time to time. Also there was the issue of the bonnet coming off at night. A-HA! Found the cure. Use bobby pins to secure it to my head avoiding my edges. Whew!
4. Moisturize every day or every other day
I often go more than a few days with out spritzing my hair with water or any other humectant. That will stop here! My hair is dry and sucks up oil like a baked dinner roll, so I will take better care to moisturize to help reduce breakage.
5. Deep condition once a week
I sometimes skip a week. Say bye bye! Not no mo'! I need to retain moisture and this will def help.
6. Detangle more gently and slowly
You know you do it too! -___- I'm not the only one! We rush and comb out our hair all quick and boom, breakage. Or we have used a comb that's too small. lol I used to do that all the time. But now I know better. Once again, my goal is to retain length. I will begin to detangle more without always using a comb and make sure my hair is wet in the process.
7. Allow extra time for myself in the morning to style my hair correctly.
We sleep late, we rush. No more. If I know that I am tired at night and don't prestyle my hair then the morning is the right time to get it in. I find that when I wake up a little earlier and move around I am alot less frazzled throughout the day and sleep more soundly the following night. And if I know I have an early day tomorrow, prestyling at night is a must!
8. Enrich my diet with more minerals and protein
AND
9. Work out more (self explanatory)
10. Be kind to my hair and my body overall
No one is going to do it for you, and what better time to start than now!
