I love to see other ppl's NHJ (Natural Hair Journeys)! You can see pics of my own personal NHJ... But when you have natural hair, I believe, your goal should be to improve your overall health, you MUST develop better eating, drinking, sleeping and grooming habits.

EATING AND DRINKING: What you eat and the supplements you take affect your hair just as much as what products you put in your hair. What you consume creates the makeup of your hair from within! Drinking more water is an essential part of being healthy and hydrating your body (including your hair). Many medical doctors will  say that drinking water is one of the cornerstones to overall better health.SLEEP: You must learn to sleep better so that you're well rested bc having natural hair (or transitioning) is a lot of work...especially if you're a parent, like myself! The
convenience of having relaxed hair is no longer available so in order to retain length (if that's part of your natural hair goal) and the health of your hair there are steps you must take (Deep Conditioning, Pre-Styling, Protective Styling, etc.). Also wrapping your hair is important at night bc cotton pillow cases can cause damage. This link to my hair she-ro Curly Nikki explains it much better!
GROOMING: Developing the right washing and styling routine can take as long as anything else in your life... lol! After trying things and seeing tutorials online I have developed my own HCR (Hair Care Regimen) ,but I love Naptural85's vlog tutorials on how to use all natural products to wash and style natural hair! If finding a salon is important then this link will have all the PLACES you'll need to know about across the U.S. PHASE 3:

I plan to grow my hair as long as I can grow it and still manage it comfortably.lol. There are many ways to do so, but I've found that whenever I have a question about how to retain my length I visit Black Girl w/ Long Hair bc they seem to have all the ANSWERS!
But I have found that my hair grows at a pretty fast rate, and that if I condition it regularly and style my hair using protective styling (to protect my ends from breakage) I can retain length. I have cut my hair a lot in the past but have recently decided to re-grow my hair. I will be documenting my growth in a new tab coming in August 2013.

Hello Naturalistas!
I have already posted how I wash my hair and I hope you enjoyed that step by step process. LOL now I will post how I style my hair in Bantu Twist.
You'll Need:
Water Bottle filled with water
Wide Toothed Comb
Standard Bobby pins or small silver clips
Your favorite hair oil and/or hair moisturizing lotion
A camera to record your results
(side note) always encourage documenting your hair journey. To me it's simply a way of keeping track of how far your hair has come whether it be in length or health.
LET'S BEGIN:
1. Use your water bottle to wet the hair to make it damp. I never style my hair dry, simply to reduce breakage. Spray from root to tips not soaking the hair, but just getting it moist if you will.
2. Start from the back and part the hair into two medium-large sections. Now my hair is thick so my sections are a little smaller bc I want mo re definition in the twist out.
3. Take the first section and lightly oil it or lotion it, which ever you prefer. I lightly oil my scalp bc it's very dry then place a small dime sized amount of styling lotion directly on the hair. I use Doo-Gro Stimulating Growth Oil and Kera Care Hydrating Hair lotion.
4. After brushing the product in... split that section of hair into two sections in your hand and began to make one big twist. Then simply hold the base of the twist with one hand and the tip of it with another hand and wrap the twist around itself and pin it into place.
Repeat all over your hair in up 8-12 sections depending on the thickness and length of your hair.
The end result should look similar to this...
Place a satin bonnet or scarf over your hair and wear to bed or if your going out put on a knit hat over your scarf or bonnet to cover your hair as it dries. In the morning or after a few hours, make sure your hair is dry and take out the clips to loosen the twist. Unravel the knots and pluck out the twist.  Results may vary but this is what I got

In these pictures it looks a bit ashy LOL but that's bc the light in my bathroom is dull but the reuslt was cute and it did have some sheen. The result reminded me of a seventies curly fro.  I loved it! Hope you like yours too. Thanks!

OK mommas! So I have been using Vitamin E oil in my hair for the past week and I love it! It smells kinda citrusy but it really makes my hair feel soft. I have put a few drops into my spray bottle so that every time I wet my hair I get a little vitamin E in there too! Check out my P.O.W. page for the review!

Yes! I am back and stayin for gud. No more down and out. After cutting nearly two inches off my tresses I realize how delicate my hair is and will not forget it. My goal is to retain length not lose it! So its all protective styles for me! If you dont know what they are visit this site here... But yeah thats def a "do" not a "don't" bc my tresses need to be treasured.

Hello gals! Since the last update I have cut my hair again! Yup, my second big chop lol Check out the results in this POST!
