My Regimen for TWA

***Revised 6/17/14

Hello Gals!

This part of the site is dedicated to the regimen for my TWA! In case you didn't know I did a second big chop last month and am now re-growing my tresses. I am practicing better eating habits and trying my hardest to transition to an organic lifestyle. I have even considered going vegetarian. More on that later lol

So here goes my regimen for my second go 'round in the TWA phase :)

Materials:
Water
Kera Care Natural Textures Cleansing Cream Curl Moisturizer
Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioner
DIY Penetrating Peppermint Oil (recipe posted below)
Spray Bottle (mine is filled with water and a few drops of organic Tea Tree oil)
Wide Toothed comb
and most of all LOVE

Washing
Step One
Rinse your hair thoroughly with water in your shower or sink.  I usually like to rinse my hair in the sink so not to clog the drain in the tub. There are plastic drain stoppers designed for catching the hair that you can find at Wal-Mart. You can find the link in the Med/Long Hair Regimen
section.
Make sure to massage the scalp with your finger tips and de-tangle as much as you can without breaking any strands.

Step Two

Wring out excess water and apply your shampoo of choice. I like to use Kera Care Natural Textures Cleansing Crème Curl Moisturizer. Its the best! I massage it into the hair and leave in for about 3 minutes making sure not to leave it on too long. I thoroughly massage the product into my scalp for about 5 minutes or more, stimulating the scalp and making sure to cleanse any residue from old product.

                                    Step Three

Rinse thoroughly wring out all excess water. Try not to rub your towel onto the hair roughly, but pat it dry.  Or you can create the towel unicorn (as I like to call it) if you have to multi-task. (>>>)

  Conditioning/ Sealing
Step One
After drying my hair a little, I spray my hair with my Tea Tree/ Water mixture making sure to get the scalp good. I let it air dry for no more than 10-15 minutes (to let the oil settle a little) then proceed to step two.
Step Two
Apply a generous amount of Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner and massage gently all over hair, not into the scalp.  De-tangle with a wide toothed comb and let air dry. Proceed to style as usual.

Styling
I usually like to trade hair duty with my homie SoulTress. Sometime I go to her salon and other times we do each others hair at my house.  She styles my hair with simple products (Shea Butter, DIY Peppermint Oil mixture, etc.). Just a couple o' days ago she comb-twist my hair. It was sexy ;) But I always like to massage the Peppermint Oil mixture onto my scalp before styling, not too much though bc my hair at this length will not hold if its too oily.

DIY Penetrating Peppermint Oil
(original recipe)

You'll need:
Organic Peppermint Oil
Organic Tea Tree Oil
EVOO
Organic Coconut Oil
and Shea Butter (optional)
A Bowl and something to store it in
First make sure to wash your hands and clean the area thoroughly. You do not want to mix any germs or other toxin into your recipe.
1. Use a clean, sanitized bowl and pour about 1/3 cup of EVOO into the bowl. Add the same amount of Coconut Oil.
2. Place other oils aside and open the essential oils. Drop 3-5 drops of peppermint oil into the mixture. Secure Top. Repeat with tea tree oil.
3. Use your finger to stir the mix and place in a clean bottle. ALL FINISHED!
Easy as 1,2,3!
If you want to make a pomade, add the Shea Butter to your liking and mix all together. Shea Butter also preserves the oils for a longer period of time! If  you want to make more or less just alter the amount of oils used, but when using Organic Essential Oils, a little goes a very long way!
