Working out with Natural Hair!

Hey guys!

This is me in a screenshot of my sweaty face after my first day of doing Jillian Michaels’' "30 Day Shred" Level One! WOOOO chil'e!

Let me tell you! I haven’t exercised since last year around the time I started this blog honey! My bones were aching and all my muscles burned. LOL it was a shame really. I say that bc that picture was posted about a week (and some change) ago! Now I am up to Day 9 of Level One and looking forward to graduating to Level Two! Lost yet??? Ok.... It works like this:

There are 3, 20 minutes workouts on the DVD. Level One, Level Two and Level Three. The difficulty progresses with each level. You are supposed to do your first ten days at level one, rest one day, do ten days at level two, rest one day, then complete ten days at level three.

WAIT…

I'm, gonna be real! After the first three days I was hurting so so baaaaad smh! So I decided to skip a day and do abs in place of it! That way I still burn calories without tearing a muscle or something! Lawd! I was aching...

So I made up my “Activity” schedule and added in some elements to ensure constant calorie burn and continue my hair regimen too. I do the next three days, break 1 day (do abs and yoga DVD, co-wash hair, style) and the next three days, break 1 day (do abs and yoga DVD, co-wash hair, style), and then do the last day coupled with abs and walking and rest two days (all while doing my abs DVD ans washing my hair to prevent sweat and dirt buildup) then move ahead to the next level, REPEAT.

The question came up: "What do you do to your hair when working out?"
Simple! I wear a scarf over the hairline to minimize product and oils running down on my face with any sweat. I have sensitive skin. I will get on your face eventually (if you’re sweating hard enough) but it makes a big difference with something in place there. Also I wear my hair in a loose top-knot for ventilation and so my hair isn't all over the place sticking to things lol

Sounds good right! After all I am not able to commit 20 minutes every day and this way I have a scheduled day to do all my running around and not feel guilty for missing a day, then at night before bed do my crunches and reverse crunch DVD! YAY! Works for me…

Have you ever had to modify a workout for your busy life??? Comments anyone?! :)
