   I have noticed recently that a lot of ppl in my life resemble celebrities. Me especially lol More than enough ppl have complimented me by telling me that I resemble the fabulous Miss Jill Scott. Also my bff told me that my beau resembles Tyson Chandler from the NY Knicks. LOL I must say they are right! Do you know any ppl that closely resemble any celebrities??? Post below ;)

Our trip to The Poconos (Great Wolf Lodge Resort)

   Hey Guys!
This is just a photo recap of our trip this past weekend to the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. WE HAD A BLAST! If you plan to visit or just wanna check out the info CLICK HERE !

   It was just what I needed, and the children had a great time as well. Idk if you knew but I recently broke my ankle (May 23, 2013) and have been confined to my house for the most part, not to mention I just received news in the past week and a half that I need to get surgery on said ankle. I was bummed and needed a pick-me-up! This trip was just that!

   I went with my Dad (whose my Superman lol), my baby sister and my nephew, and my two angels. It was the first annual Booze-Mcquay Family reunion and it was excellently done! Kudos to my cousin Tymeeka who put the whole thing together! Below are just some snap shots of us in the water park and at dinner! Enjoy :)

WHAT! You did what? Yes ladies and gentlemen, I made the big chop for the second time! I love it

 

though. I was going through so much in my personal life that I sorta took it out on my hair and

 

although I had changed my regimen and tried to clip my ends and salvage what hair I had left it

 

seemed like a better decision to start over! I know what your thinking... and I thought about all those

 

things and more. I figured this way I could take you on my hair journey with me and get better at

 

posting "progress pics" and maybe that will make the journey more believable for those who are just

 

starting theirs as well. I will be posting like crazy bc now that I am recovering from surgery I have

 

plenty of time on my hands and a great opportunity to tweak my regimen and use the knowledge I

 

have gained over the past four and a half years to grow my hair more effectively and take my use of

 

organic materials up a notch. I will be posting a new regimen in the next two weeks, tweaking the

 

"Mane-taining" tab and posting more with my girl SoulTress! Stay Tuned ppl is gonna be great!

I am so very, very excited to welcome Jackie a.k.a. SoulTress to the site!
She is a young professional stylist, mother of one and au naturale. Her hair is massive and so is her clientele and both are steadily growing. I must say I am partially biased bc she is a close friend of mine. I've known her since I was 19 lol so yeah. Check out her HNNY interview in the "No-Lye Stylist" tab of the home page! We will be adding more about SoulTress including her style and regimen. (giggles) I am just giddy with excitement! Check back for new updates coming very, extremely soon! LOL

Sesame Street introduces "Alex" whose father is in prison... Hit or Miss???

Hello Naturalistas,

Now most of you know that I am a mother as well as natural. I am first and foremost concerned about anything that effects my children. I have been watching Sesame Street since I was a small child and as a mother of a one and three year old I encourage them to watch the show as well. Along with iconic characters such as Big Bird and Elmo the show aids children in learning phonics and numbers, as well as, life lessons like making friends or doing chores to help out around the house. Not to mention all the educational material with Sesame Street's name on it (books, games, DVD's, etc.) I absolutely love the "Elmo's ABC" app on my iPad 2 for my three year old. That very app helped me to teach my daughter all of her letters and the sounds they make. Pretty awesome!

Well, you can imagine my surprise when I saw a news article this morning on MSN about a new Muppet named "Alex" whose father is in jail. (tires screech) Huh? You mean to tell me that there is a character......on Sesame Street..... that has a dad.......in jail? What the? My initial reaction was ummmm no. But after reading several articles related to this news I think its not so bad. Think about it! More and more children have parents who are, have been, or will go to prison/jail in their lifetime. No one ever addresses these children (or their families) and the difficulties that come along with such a situation. Its actually quite groundbreaking in my opinion.

 I remember a few years ago the Sesame Street program in South Africa introduced a new character called "Kami" who was HIV positive. I thought "Great now the children who have HIV/AIDS will have someone on television that they can relate too and maybe learn about the condition from a reputable source.
